Mapyst

As an incoming student or visitor, navigating a college campus can be a difficult task, especially when decades of renovations and expansion have left many academic buildings looking more like labyrinths than labs. Mapyst aims to make this task significantly easier.

Utilizing data from building floorplans, Google Maps, and GPS, Mapyst can quickly find the fastest route between any two points on campus, and guide you to your destination. Mapyst also allows you to customize routes based on your preferences (inside/outside, stairs/elevators) and can even provide you with an estimated travel time for your route.

Mapyst (then called NavCMU) was presented at Meeting of the Minds at CMU in the Spring of 2011, where it won a 1st Place Yahoo! Undergraduate Research Award, a 3rd Place Johnson & Johnson Undergraduate Research Award, and an IBM Undergraduate "Smarter Planet" Award.
